How it started

A soft-landing space that became a hub.

We started with one idea: ambitious companies should be able to expand across Asia-Pacific with less risk and more impact. So we opened a physical space for them to land, work and meet the right people.

2016

Opening the doors

Backed by seed funding from the NSW Government and the Banna Family Office, we opened a coworking and soft-landing space in Haymarket. Our first market-entry programs ran with DFAT, Alibaba, KPMG and Australia Post.

2018+

Growing the bridge

We launched our first GTM program with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, KPMG and Alibaba, which led us to become the official partner for many more government agencies to support their companies to enter Australia, and pioneered “country manager-as-a-service”: a presence in ANZ without permanent hires.

Today

A creator and innovation hub

The space is now home to founders, creators and technologists. People come to work, host events, experiment with AI and new tools, and grow beyond their home market.

Why Chinatown

Rooted in Chinatown. Connected to the world.

Based in one of Sydney’s most culturally significant neighbourhoods, HHQ is home to people and ideas from across Australia, APAC and the wider world. It’s where Asia-Pacific businesses land, and where Australian companies start looking outward.

“One day you’re helping an ASX-listed tech company expand into Singapore, the next you’re supporting a truffle producer to expand into Vietnam or a startup to validate their product in Australia.”
Duco van Breemen, CEO

The team

The people behind HHQ.

We’ve done it ourselves.

Between us, we’ve worked across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America, and grown businesses in new markets. We know what it’s like to arrive somewhere with no network. That’s why we built HHQ: a culturally connected space in Chinatown where founders from everywhere meet the people who can help them grow. Drop by and you’ll probably meet us.
