Coming from overseas?

Get set up, then apply.

Almost every state program wants an Australian company based in that state. That’s easier than it sounds, and it’s what we do every day.

1
Set up your Australian company

We help with incorporation and give you a Sydney CBD address you can use as your registered office with ASIC. Business address →

2
Get a base in the right state

A desk in our Chinatown space gives you a real local presence. Many programs ask where your team works. See coworking →

3
Find the right programs and partners

Our network can connect you with research partners and co-investors, which many programs ask for. See GTM services →

4
Apply with a plan

Grants reward a clear market plan. A Market Scan or ecosystem map gives you the evidence. See the ecosystem map →

FAQ

Good to know.

This page is general information, not financial or legal advice. Check the official guidelines for each program.

Can an overseas company get Australian grants?

Sometimes, but usually only after setting up an Australian company. Most programs need an ABN or ACN, and state programs usually want you based in that state. A few investment funds, like Victoria’s Equity Investment Attraction Fund, are open to overseas startups that move operations here.

What’s the difference between a grant and a tax incentive?

A grant is money you apply for, usually in rounds and often with matched funding. A tax incentive, like the R&D Tax Incentive, gives you money back through your tax return for eligible spending. You register rather than compete.

Why are so many programs closed?

Many programs open in rounds once or twice a year, and some pause while governments change their priorities. We mark each one as open, ongoing, opens in rounds, closed or check status, based on the official page.

How often is this list updated?

We last checked every program against its official page in October 2026. Always read the official guidelines before you apply.

Can you write our grant application?

We help companies work out which programs fit and get the pieces in place: an Australian entity, a local base, research partners and a market plan. Talk to us about what you need.
